Veteran core's scoring regression sinks Capitals' playoff hopes.
The Capitals are significantly underperforming their pace from last season, dropping 17 points at the 70-game mark. This decline is largely due to the regression of several core offensive players. Alex Ovechkin's projected 61 points are a substantial drop from his 73 points in 65 games last year (1.12 vs 0.74 pt/gm).
